I’ve just been reading through some of the Redemption material that’s come out of Mars Hill, Seattle. It’s really excellent stuff – designed for use with people dealing with addictions of any kind. It uses the story of the Exodus to look at release from oppressive slavery by God.

You can check it out here.

One thing that struck me from the 1st chapter – one of those moments where you’ve read a passage of the Bible so many times, but never noticed one key thing…

In Exodus 3:8 God says that he has come down to bring his people up.

I had always understood the Exodus, yes, as a rescue by God, but through him sending Moses to rescue his people. But yet again it is a movement of God coming down to his people to bring them up.

I love it when a good plan comes together…
